Battle of trenton(December 26 1778)
After the hard winter at Valley Forge General Washington had an idea to invade Trenton, New Jersey after the British Christmas Parties. Washington knew that the British and the Hessians(Mercenaries from Germany hired to fight for the British) they hired were all going to be sleeping or very tired. Washington had to cross the Delaware River which was very icy and cold so it was a risky move but the troops made it safely across. By the time Washington got there no one was standing nor, were there any scouts. So when they attacked some British and Hessians were fighting in pajamas. In the end Washington and his troops captured 900+ Hessians and won the battle in a just a few hours. Washington had ended the year on a positive note and many of the men reenlisted.
